Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA)
RAMP is based on a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) that outlines the co-creation and methodological approach, sets the objectives of the partnership, as well as describes how the partnership will be implemented, and its thematic scope.
Critical raw materials are essential for the green and digital transition.
Demand is already high and will continue to grow. At the same time, the European Union depends on a small number of supplier countries.
This brings new challenges that endanger this transition alongside already existing challenges that are interdependent with the availability of raw materials - such as climate change, environmental degradation, and social sustainability.
The EU is already taking action through several initiatives. These include the European Green Deal, the Critical Raw Materials Act, and the Critical Raw Materials Action Plan. Together, they aim to strengthen the entire raw materials value chain, through strong investment in research and innovation that focuses on strategic projects within extraction, processing, recycling, and development of substitute materials.
Existing funding schemes such as the Horizon Europe and EIT RawMaterials Calls are well-implemented, but there is still a gap in how funding is coordinated across countries.
RAMP addresses this gap. It is a new EU co-funded partnership that builds on the experience of the ERA-MIN network. The partnership focuses on:
- needs-driven research
- basic and applied projects (low to medium TRL)
- smaller transnational consortia
- projects lasting up to 36 months
- funding between €0.5M and €1.5M
To launch and guide this work, RAMP is based on a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). The SRIA outlines the co-creation and methodological approach, sets the objectives of the partnership, describes how the partnership will be implemented, and the thematic scope.
